@BuchanBullBullion , hey bud great channel, bought my 3 last week, any silver is good silver and what the hell for 60 bucks for a one time thing. wanted to let you know i asked the RCM because they are commissioned from the gov can i cash them in at a bank and they told me “its possible but the banks aren’t actually obligated to exchange the coins”. secondary market will GOBBLE, GOBBLE them up no problem though!

RCM just released another $20 face value pure silver coin for $20. The last one sold out in less than a month. Sept 28/11. Get em while you can!

@boblawblaws604 The point that is missed a lot though is that they are currency, back by the Bank of Canada, so you can have a $20 paper bill in your pocket or this $20 coin and be in the same position.
Yes a paper $20 can buy more silver than is in his coin, but this coin can buy the same amount of silver as a $20 paper bill and is pure silver.
I also bet most will able to flip this coin for a full ounce quite easily. I do not like the numismatic stuff either, but do like this.

These coins are 8 g. There are 31 g in a Troy ounce. Right now I can buy a 1 oz. coin for $30.00. Do the math, this sticks to the mantra of never buy numismatic. If you want to be in the game, stay with the investment coins and if you want to diversify, do so through your self-directed RRSP or 401K. The Sprott Silver & Gold Trust’s are excellent picks. Eric runs his company top-drawer. Look into his service. But, I’ll pass on these $20.00 trinkets.

If there never will be a premium on these coins, I’ll just walk into my bullion dealer and buy a 1 oz Silver maple with them haha. I will still keep one as a collectors item though

@waterskippers..Probably. If you go to a post office (official, not satellite one at the drug stores ect) they usually have a decent collection of new coins from the mint.

@BuchanBullBullion Question is though, are they signaling a CND devalue against a basket of currencies or a relative spike in price of silver due to tight supply. Given Flaherty said no more CDN peso, I think they might be signaling to the market ever so slightly where they think the silver price should be. Now will your return be as high as purchasing a pure maple, not at all, but will your risk be lower, certainly.

@nmreich Well put, but I always like to have a bit of a hedge in place. This coin will be valued numismatically, and I do not believe anyone would ever sell one for less than $20 cash, once sold-out though you may be able to get a big premium on them, only 200,000.
A money grab yes, do we need it yes, pay down the debt, start operating as a business and making profits to help your citizens instead of harming.

I wish I could mint my own 8g silver coin and put a picture of the queen on one side and a $20 on the other and then use it as “legal tender”. For me, the SILVER CONTENT is what makes a coin valuable, not the print on the coin, nor the monarch. I’ll stick to the 1oz coins, but I wouldn’t mind having one of these as a souvenir to show my kids some day in the future when that coin can buy $300 worth of merchandise.

I really don’t see the issue here. Ther RCM is offering the silver at the going rate plus its fractional. So far here in canada we haven’t seen much of this. Personally I’d like to get a tube of these.

@Alexiscom1 The silver in their vaults is not leveraged, that 2.5x is the profit over spot. I think it is actually doing what I am arguing in all my blogs, exchanging paper for physical. We are getting $4M CNDs off the street, hopefully to stay off the street, and putting out 51,446 T Oz of physical RCM silver in our citizens hands. If anything it is partially deflationary, but very nominally.
And again, I like that it creates interest in general public, and can get silver into smaller hands.
